When they said I was useless

She said I was great

When they said I was weak

She said I was strong

When I said I couldn’t

She said I could

When I said I was finished

She said I had just begun

When I cried

She made me laugh

When I was in pain

She turned my frown into a smile

Now she’s gone

And with tears I can’t vent

Because her words of encouragement

Helped give birth to my strength
